Indiana Stadium
Project Name:
Date: Jan-2006
Project Status: Completed
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Tonnage: 2000
Fabricator: Geiger & Peters, Inc.

The project is a 7-level facility that seats 63,000 for football up to 70,000 for basketball, conventions and concerts. It covers 1,800,000 sq. ft. and features 137 corporate suites, two club lounges, meeting rooms and two exhibit halls. The unique retractable roof makes it exceptionally flexible for both indoor and outdoor events. The structure has a basic seismic resisting system composed of Ordinary Steel Moment Frames. Horizontal trusses in plane of the truss top chord were used for lateral force resisting system of long-span main trusses. Ends of horizontal trusses were also connected to braced frames for full transfer of the lateral loads.

IDS, Inc. scope of work for this project includes production of structural steel shop and erection drawings and connection design for column splice, moment, vertical brace, shear and truss joints. The project was completely detailed and designed by the 1st quarter of 2007.
