This project, located in Vance, Alabama, is an addition to the Mercedes Plant. IDS’ scope included detailing the structural steel and various miscellaneous framing around the paint shop. Along with the detailing, IDS provided connection calculations signed and sealed by a licensed professional engineer in the state of Alabama. The structural steel detailing consists of wide flange members, including both moment and shear connections. Also, there are a lot of large trusses and various girt configurations that have to be detailed. There is also some coordination with the existing building that has to be taken into consideration to avoid issues in the field. IDS is utilizing experienced AutoCAD detailers on this job. This project was broken down into 20 sequences to allow for a good flow of steel in the shop and on site. IDS is working closely with the fabricator and erector to make sure this project fabricates and erects as efficiently as possible. |
