This project is a renovation of an existing Alcoa Aluminum Plant located along the Yadkin River in the south central section of North Carolina . This phase of the project consisted of alterations to the existing structure with new construction installing loading dock doors in multiple locations, relocating existing bracing, installing new x-bracing and chevron bracing, reinforcing existing wall structures with struts and additional girt lines, and misc. angle framing. International Design Services’ scope includes structural detailing of all structural steel. IDS is also directly involved with the site and fabricator’s rep. during the initial phase to expedite the RFI and site dimension requirements of existing conditions. Shop drawings were provide in AutoCAD, per fabricator’s preference. Approximate tonnage calculated at 20 tons of structural steel with a duration of 3 weeks for approval. |
