New Bastian Mitchell Hangar
Project Name:
Date: Sep-2011
Project Status: Ongoing
Location: New Orleans, LA
Tonnage: 1900
Fabricator: E&H Steel Corporation

International Design Services is proud to provide the structural steel detailing and connection design for the New Bastian Mitchell Hangar at the New Orleans Lakefront Airport, on Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans, Louisiana.  This project is a new hangar as part of a renovation of the airport in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

The 25,000 square foot hanger and adjacent office area consists of 1,900 tons of structural steel including box trusses over the hangar doors as well as the main roof trusses that span 195 feet as well as sway frames and standard beam and column construction. IDS provided the ABM, Anchor bolt setting plans & details, erection drawings and shop drawings. These detailing requirements were all detailed using AutoCAD software.  Aside from the detailing scope mentioned above, IDS also provided production program files such as KSS files, CNC files and DXF files.

The connection design consisted of all the connections for the truss and box truss splices and chord member connections, the sway frame connections, vertical and horizontal bracing connections, moment connections and standard shear connections for the beams and columns.
