This is New Tornillo-Guadalupe-US Land Port of Entry and is a Federally owned port of entry facility between Mexico and the US, with 16 buildings. IDS’ scope includes the following: detailing structural and miscellaneous members, no connection design for the structural, but, IDS has the engineering responsibility for the handrails. The structural & miscellaneous members to be detailed consist of: embeds, columns, beams, bracing, stairs , handrails and edge material of the building. Every building has a unique usage/purpose, that brings different type of approach in detailing and constructing every building. BIM was required in this project, at the early start. Coordination with the other trades, issues on the project and model coordination were part of the web meetings, that were held every week for 6 weeks. There are substantial canopies, solar shades and skylights on the project that needs framing steel support and these were exposed so the framing had to have a clean look. |
