Caterpillar Visitor Center
Project Name:
Date: May-2011
Project Status: Completed
Location: Peoria, IL
Tonnage: 408
Fabricator: Hanley Steel, Inc.

The Caterpillar Visitor Center in Peoria, IL consists of a 3-story, 50,000 square foot structural steel building enclosed with a metal roof and siding as well as an aluminum curtain wall system. International Design Services provided the steel detailing for the structural steel, stairs, handrails, ladders, and other miscellaneous items. IDS also furnished the stamped connection design calculations for the structural steel.

The project was detailed in Tekla Structures to provide the correct data files and model for the fabricator. IDS worked diligently to correctly model and detail the structure and implement any change orders issued on the project. The project management team worked closely with the fabricator to ensure timely delivery of drawing and data files as well as coordinate information provided from the other trades involved in the structure. The project is scheduled to be completed and opened to the public in October 2012
