This unique project for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers involves detailing a large structural steel flood gate that can open and close attached to large monolithic concrete pours. The gate was modeled in Tekla for coordination with other trades, including large cast steel hinges. The gate is primarily composed of W27 wide flange members with skin plates on the flood and protected sides of the lake. The plates are reinforced with WT stiffeners. The gate material and welding must meet strict testing requirements. Other parts of the project include rubber seals, embeds, large rod braces and the hinge mechanism. The shop drawings are sealed by our licensed professional engineer in the state of Louisiana. |
