This is a new school construction PS-133K New School in Brooklyn New York own and operated by NY SCA. The project is a 5-storey school building.

IDS acquired the detailing and connection design of the project through bidding process performed by IDS estimate, engineering and marketing staff. IDS scope includes the following:  detailing structural members with connection design. The structural members consist of the following: embeds, columns, beams, trusses, bracing, building edge material  and lots of hung lintels at the perimeter of the building. The project has 16 sequences and its sequence weighs approximately 100 tons. IDS will detail the project in AutoCAD  as fabricator's preference.

IDS has the capabilities also to model the project, however, the customer prefers this in AutoCAD. IDS has more than 300 detailing staff both modeling and AutoCAD, plus connection design engineers. The building  construction is being  categorized as moment frame and braced frame, where moment frames are FR (Fully Restrained). Numerous layouts of the building framing will be prepared for detailing use to make sure the dimensions geometry  of the building will closed. A lot of coordination will be required between IDS detailing staff, IDS engineering staff, architect and engineer to ensure the success of the project.

We have 10-Trusses locations at the gym area.  Bracings are HSS and Double Angles at numerous locations. We do have Moment connections for the beams on the project. We provided set up drawings, advance erection drawing and full calculations at the beginning of the project, IDS provided all of these at the start of the project and waited for the approval before proceeding with the actual detailing.

Also, the hung lintels, consist of framed angles, being shop attached to the perimeter beams, it added work for the detailing side, but, it made it easy in the field during the erection. The detailing starts by preparing the ABM, anchor bolt plan & details, shop drawings, erection drawings and field bolt list. Part of IDS detailing scope will also include preparing for the program files such as cnc , dxf and kss files. There are no  Joist materials on the project, all members are structural steel materials.

The project was a success. IDS has detailed a number of buildings in New York  that are under SCA control. Currently IDS is detailing 3 more school buildings, similar to the school buildings IDS previously detailed.
