The SCBF is composed of pipe and HSS vertical brace members that are bolted to the gusset plate. IDS, Inc. scope of work for the project was to design the connections under strict compliance of the provisions of AISC 358-05. The connection design of the braces were originally done by other detailing and engineering firm and the Engineer of Record, CH2MHill, hired IDS, Inc. to recheck and reinforce the connections that include truss connections and shear with axial connections in addition to the vertical brace connections. Connections were re-evaluated for the proper load path and analysis distribution. The project was completed by the 2nd quarter of 2008. |
